Peter & Christine Maxwell formed their truck spray painting business around 15 years ago. They built their business from a small start-up operation. Now it’s a successful and profitable organisation based in Penrose.
In spite of this, they kept coming up against some of the most common issues small business owners face. Their inability to move passed these problems frustrated them. “… felt like we were spiraling down to nowhere…”
Before Working With Full Focus:
Pete, with the sole responsibility for running the business, was feeling alone. Christine was anxious to support Pete in whatever way possible, but she didn’t know how or where to begin. Juggling cash flow and the uncertainty of income caused constant anxiety.
It had all become hard work, worry and constant pressure to keep their heads above water. There was no fun in the business any longer, and the strain had begun to spill into other areas as well. Pete & Christine wanted to enjoy time-out with their young family. But they were struggling to put the business to one side.
Feeling disheartened and overwhelmed, Christine & Pete turned to Full Focus. They wanted help to jump the brick wall they seemed to have come up against.
What We Did:
Pete & Christine were looking to minimise the stress levels in their business. Getting some certainty into their cashflow would go a long was to satisfying that desire. So too would ramping up new business generation.
Full Focus worked with Pete & Christine to establish simple cashflow spreadsheets.
We also helped restructure the company’s financial resources . This meant they were no longer dependent on, or under the control of, the banks. “… helped us get away from the control of the banks and we no longer feel the banks have power over our business…”
Alongside Auckland Truck Spray, we were able to assist in new business generation. Also providing some useful ideas and tools to create a continuing flow of work.
The Difference Today:
Christine has cashflow forecasts in place that tell her what money is due to come in and what’s due to go out. “…. I’m like a pig in mud with the spreadsheets”. Christine & Pete have eliminated any nasty surprises in their cashflow. Stress levels are down. Way down.
Pete is now more relaxed in the business – enjoying it and feeling confident of its future success. Regular new business is coming in – most of it at sustainable levels.
Auckland Truck Spray has increased its monthly earnings by over 26%. That’s a magnificent result. Especially with the trucking and transport industry in the middle of a “recession”.
The work environment is now much more settled. The staff are happier and feel more secure – which means production has improved also.
These are some pretty remarkable results. But what makes the real difference is the disappearance of stress and worry. Peter & Christine are now able to leave the business where it belongs. They can enjoy the time they spend with their family. This must be the best outcome of all!
