business advice that works

Frequently asked questions

What makes you different from other business coaches?

Most business coaches have a set formula to follow, ignoring the fact that what works for one business may not work for another.  Nor do they consider the foundation on which you are building your wealth.  If this is shaky and likely to collapse, all the coaching in the world will amount to nothing.

We don’t do “one size fits all”.  Our advice is custom-fit to your circumstances.  We also check out the foundations or structures on which your business is built – safeguarding all your hardwork.

We’re straight-talkers.  We ask the hard questions and aren't scared to upset the status quo if it's in your best interests.

How are you different to mortgage brokers?

Mortgage brokers generally have their “favourite” lending institutions – the ones they have a loyalty to or those that pay them the highest commission, meaning their search is limited to only a few institutions.

Mortgage brokers are generally paid by the bank – which means ultimately by you (wrapped up in your finance package).   We have no ties with lending institutions and are free to canvass everyone.  You pay us directly, meaning we make unbiased recommendations uninfluenced by the fees we will earn.  You get the very best deal in town.

We also ensure your finance is structured in the best way for you  eg. tax efficient; beneficial cashflow paths; correct ownership; limited securities etc.

  How much do you charge?

Our fees are set on a case-by-case basis dependent on your needs, os it's very hard to provide an idea of costs.   But until such time as we've identified whether we can enhance your situation, and you have agreed to our proposal (with fees set in advance),  there's no charge to you.

Can we meet “free of charge”?

If you’re a business owner in our target market (and sometimes even if you’re not) - absolutely!  There is never any meter running until such time as we can identify whether we can help you or not.

Will we be lumped with an unexpected invoice?

Never.  Our fees are always set and agreed on upfront as are the payment terms.  No surprises.

 What are your payment terms?

For a one-off assignment our fees are usually payable 50% on the day we begin, and the balance on completion of the job.  Project-based work is often invoiced weekly, fortnightly or monthly (dependent on your preference).  Some projects are incentivised.

How long have you been in business?

Over 30 years.  The business has evolved since 1978, and in 1997 was rebranded as Full Focus Limited.

What do your clients say about you?

You can find that out by reading our client testimonials

You talk about “wholistic” advice – what do you mean by that? (and have you mis-spelt it)?

Firstly, no – it’s not mis-spelt.  We spelt it like that on purpose for two reasons –

  1. To distinguish it from “holistic”
  2. We look at your whole picture - wedon’t treat things in isolation.  When things such as wills, trusts, companies etc are formed – often these are put together with the tunnel vision of each particular entity.  No one has taken into account whether they interact correctly or even if they fit your objectives.
By looking at the whole picture, we can ensure everything fits together, matches your objectives and will do the job you want them to.

My business is in real trouble – can you help me?

Probably.  We’d need to meet with you first to find out what your current circumstances are and how you’d ideally like them to be.  Chances are that if we can’t help you, we’ll know someone who can.

What type of clients do you work with?

Chiefly the owners of small to medium sized businesses, although in some circumstances we widen our net a little.  Read the full explanation of our target market

What do you mean by “independent” advice?

We have no ties with any third party providers – which means the advice we give you is completely untainted by any hidden agenda.  We work solely for the business owner and no one else.

 What qualifications do you have?

We have no formal business qualifications.  Our expertise has come from hard work, hard knocks, and the highs and lows of being successful business owners for more than 38 years.

Our wealth of experience over this time has ensured we have the benefit of that which cannot be taught in a classroom.

If I decide to work with you, will I be relegated to an “underling”?

No.  You’ll be working with David  and Kathy personally.

 Can I trust you?

Yes.  But don’t take our word for it – read what our clients have to say about us.

Can you help me get better information from my accountant?

Definitely.  One of the things we pride ourselves on is helping our clients get the best out of their professional advisors.

Our old business plan just sat on a shelf gathering dust.  How can we be sure your method won’t end up the same?

Ultimately, it is up to you to implement any business plan.  It will gather dust on the shelf if you let it.  However, the method we use to create a business plan gives it the best chance of being put into action.  It’s designed to be implemented in bite sized pieces, making it doable for even the busiest business owner.

We’re having trouble putting together our wills, power of attorneys and other legal documents.  Can you help?

Yes. We can guide you through this process, facilitate the legal documentation and ensure you get legal structures that are correct and will do the job you want them to.
